Tested by highfish: The Imperial Shuttle from Lego

Every month we give away a Lego novelty. In October, Remo alias highfish won the Imperial Shuttle from Lego Star Wars. This is his test report.

The Force is strong in our family. My nephew (Luke, 7 years old) has it - and my daughter (Leia, 2 years old) has it too. That probably explains enough about why I, as a responsible father, took part in the Galaxus competition. But let's go back to the origin of the story...

Once upon a time, a long time ago, right here at home. Fortunately, my brother was already old enough to realise that the first broadcast of the "Star Wars trilogy" was about to flicker across the tube TVs on Sat1. Unfortunately, we didn't have cable reception in the Grisons countryside, so we couldn't watch the films directly. However, our grandfather lived in the canton of Bern and, at my brother's request, recorded the films on VHS tapes and sent them to Graubünden. We were then captivated by the charm and the incomparable story - as were so many others of our generation. Decades later, the fascination for the Star Wars universe has lost none of its strength and this is also manifested in various merchandise items that I can call my own.

So the fact that I took part in the competition should come as no surprise to any reader. After all, I wanted to win a prize for my Death Star, my Kylo Ren command ship and for a small tie fighter. The fact that I then won Krennic's Imperial Shuttle naturally made me very happy.

One thing up front: there are "nerdy" accessories, such as stand-up busts, lightsabres, posters, etc., which don't always go down well with everyone. In my opinion, however, the Lego series is the best way to spend wonderful, fun and interesting hours with your children. Or is there anything better for you than sitting around a table with your offspring on a rainy day and building and creating something together?

In addition, the instructions and the quality of the Lego products are of such a high standard that the relatively high prices are justified. The attention to detail also never ceases to amaze me. Countless moving parts here, colour-contrasting bricks there - even if you can't see them from the outside.

Just as I have come to expect from Lego, the Krennics Imperial Shuttle arrived beautifully packaged and in high quality. The detailed and easy-to-understand building instructions are kept in the usual Lego style - the individual steps are well visualised. As is standard with larger Lego products, there are also individual numbered packaging bags in the box, which makes it easier to keep track of everything. In addition, you can easily assemble just "a smaller part" and don't have to put all the pieces away again and again - especially if you have cats at home, this is a very welcome fact.

With a little practice, the Imperial Shuttle can be assembled in around three hours. With its many moving parts and two laser cannons mounted under the wings, it offers the opportunity to recreate epic space battles. After assembling it, I am even more excited about the film "Star Wars - Rogue One", which will be released in cinemas in December. I am delighted to be able to recommend the Krennics Imperial Shuttle with a clear conscience. May the Force be with you!
