Sony a9: I hate surprises

The Sony a9 has a lot of impressive specs. But one thing stands out. It shoots 20 images per second. We tested this in 60 seconds.
"Ready?", he asks.
"Obviously I can't get round it," I grumble.
"You've got sixty seconds and your time starts now."
I hate surprises. And think: arsehole.
The camera is rolling, the headlights are blinding me, I have a Digitec Galaxus bag in front of me with unknown contents. I can't know what's inside. Yuck. I hate surprises and so does Dominik Bärlocher, Senior Editor, at this moment.
I grab the bag and unpack it. I find a camera, the Sony a9, and a lens. My anger is gone. All that remains is absolute and pure excitement. I love Sony cameras. They are my faithful companions in everyday life.

And action
Now it's time for action, lens cover off, white on white dot, click the lens into place. I'm terribly excited. What happened to the camera again? Was that the one I was allowed to test at Photokina? Crap. I'm not sure. What was so special about it again? My memory is running at full speed. Ah, of course! It's ultra-fast.
Hopefully there's a battery inside. You have to demonstrate that right away.
"Klickediklickklickklickklick", the camera makes as I press the shutter button.
Wow.
This is a machine gun to my taste. Big, chunky, fast. The perfect camera for sports photographers. Oh and for cat photographers. Who wants to photograph sport when you can have cats?
It's a Wrap
That's all I have time for. I'm still insanely stressed. But at least now it's not angry, I'm-pissed-off-at-Dominik stress, but positive, excited stress. My head is buzzing with specs: ISO of up to 100-51200, 120fps video, splash-proof because it's made of magnesium alloy. But never mind. You simply can't tell that much in 60 seconds. Because the cool thing is the speed. A shutter speed of up to 1/32,000 of a second is simply awesome. The sweet thing takes 20 pictures a second.

So 60 seconds is shorter than you think. Just a minute ago I was pissed off, nervous and afraid of making a complete fool of myself. You never know with Dominik... as a surprise unboxing, he could have put something else in front of me. I was lucky. It's a Sony. My brand.
Now I'm sitting here and want to take a photo of a cat playing. That would be great. For sure. <p

My world moves in 25 frames per second. As a journalist, I report – not because I can, but because I can’t help myself. After all, the world is full of stories that are waiting to be told. Adventures don't wait. From national to international news, hand me a camera and a mic and I've got it covered.
