Rubik’s Cube? Bring it on!

This curious cube has fascinated me for quite some time now. I had one as a kid but never managed to solve it. That’s why I’ve set myself the challenge to defeat the Rubik's Cube by learning how to solve it.
Two weeks ago, I was at the Spielwarenmesse toy fair in Nuremberg. The fair is where all the big names in toys meet: LEGO, Hasbro, Mattel, you name it. Alongside the leading players, there were also several small stands and start-ups from all corners of the earth. And for some reason, there was a surprising amount of stands with Rubik's Cubes – from your classic 3×3 cubes to unusual designs to ultra-modern futuristic cubes connected to a smartphone app.
My curiosity was sparked and I tried out various models. Personally, I still like the classic cube best. There’s a mystery surrounding the toy that has stuck with me since my childhood. I’ve never been able to master the cube. Never been able to solve it. Never arranged all the colours properly. But this is about to change. I’ve made up my mind and am ready to take on the challenge once again. So I got myself a Rubik's Cube. Let the challenge begin!

To spice things up a bit, I’ve set myself multiple goals. First and foremost, I want to solve the cube. All means or tips from the internet are permitted. Time to practise. The second step is to solve the Rubik’s Cube all by myself. No cheating. My third, most likely unattainable, goal is to solve the Rubik's Cube in under two minutes.
Frankly, I’m not quite sure what I’ve signed up for. Who knows? Maybe I’ll make a complete fool of myself by not progressing at all after a month. However, watching pubescent kids on YouTube tame the magic cube gives me hope. Surely I can manage if they can?
In any case, I’ll keep you posted on my success or defeat and will present you with an update shortly. Don’t want to miss this? Simply subscribe to my author profile to stay in the loop.
