You don't want something phenomenal, but neither do you want something poor? You want a normal, simply average smartphone? Here are our perfectly average offers.
Mathematics isn't fun until after school. Because sometimes you sit and wonder which smartphones on digitec.ch come closest to the average price. Maybe someone out there is as geeky as you are and wants to buy a phone that is not necessarily brilliant, but adequate.
Here is a methodology to calculate the average.
An observation: I have not personally tested these phones, unless otherwise specified. I just looked at the technical specs and thought: 'Looks good'.
The iPhone 8 comes closest to the average at 519 francs. Only the low price is surprising, because iPhones generally have a very slow decline in value and the iPhone 8 is still relatively new.
The Fairphone wants to change the world and treat both the phone's raw materials and workers fairly. The result is a slightly below average phone.
Sony was once a very good brand, until the Xperia XZ2. Then it had a dry spell and disorientation, ending with this year's Xperia 1. The camera, including that of the XZ2, characterises Sony. The phone above already had an owner, was returned, remanufactured by colleagues in Wohlen and is now waiting for a new home.
OnePlus has gained a lot of acclaim with the OnePlus 6T. The phone offers a lot, costs little and also takes good photos.
