The "Stream" series from Ecoflow includes electricity storage units for balcony power stations, which can also be used to operate household appliances.

The legal regulations limit balcony power stations to 600 watts. This is not enough for larger consumers such as washing machines or dishwashers. Ecoflow addresses this problem with the «Stream» series. The power storage units differ mainly in terms of the type of connection and the number of PV inputs.

The series consists of the devices:

  • Stream AC Pro
  • Stream Pro
  • Stream Ultra

I will briefly introduce you to the series in this article

Common features of the models

All three storage systems offer a basic capacity of 1.92 kWh. This can be expanded modularly to up to twelve kWh. The devices are designed for up to 6000 charging cycles and achieve a remaining capacity of 70 per cent. You control them with the Ecoflow app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

All models are weatherproof to IP65 standard and are suitable for use on balconies, terraces or indoors.

Stream AC Pro: the solution for retrofitting

As the name suggests, this device is a storage solution that is purely connected to alternating current. It is primarily aimed at anyone who already operates a balcony power station and wants to expand it with a storage unit.

This does without an inverter and connection for the PV system. Instead, the device is simply connected to the power grid via a socket and absorbs excess energy from the balcony power station.

Use the two bidirectional AC sockets to connect devices that require more than 800 watts for operation.

Stream Pro is a hybrid storage unit

«Stream Pro» combines storage function and PV control in one device. As a hybrid storage system, the device has an integrated inverter and three independent MPPT inputs with 500 watts of power each.

This configuration makes it possible to operate different solar module groups separately. This is useful if you have aligned your modules in different directions in order to achieve optimum results throughout the day.

The grid-connected output power is set to 600 watts in compliance with the law, while the bypass function allows up to 2300 watts. The combination device is suitable for new installations as well as for adding an intelligent storage solution to existing systems.

Stream Ultra for maximum performance

The Stream Ultra is the most powerful variant in the series. The device has four MPPT inputs with 500 watts each and can therefore process up to 2000 watts of solar power. Like the Stream Pro, the Ultra also has an integrated inverter and is set to a legally compliant 600 watts.

Technically, up to 1200 watts can be fed into the household grid via the AC output, but this is limited due to the current legal situation. The total output power via both sockets is up to 2300 watts.

Compatibility and expandability

All three models can be combined with microinverters from different brands. The AC Pro can act as a stand-alone storage unit or as an additional battery for the Stream Ultra.

If you use multiple AC Pro units, they are automatically synchronised and displayed as a shared system in the app.

In addition to its four MPPT inputs, the Stream Ultra can also be connected to existing micro inverters. It is therefore also suitable for complex installations around the house.

Intelligent control and tariff optimisation via app

The Ecoflow app monitors and controls the systems. According to the manufacturer, the system is designed to recognise typical usage patterns over time and control the energy flow. If you use dynamic electricity tariffs, the storage units can be charged via the power grid at favourable times when solar energy is not expected to be sufficient
