"Smartvest Pro" from Abus is an expandable alarm system that covers various scenarios and aims to improve security around the house or flat.

Burglary attempts, a leak in the washing machine or a saucepan left on the hot hob are just a few examples of dangers that can threaten your own four walls. Security specialist Abus offers an alarm system that you can customise to suit your security needs.

The heart of the «Smartvest Pro» is the alarm control panel, which measures just 28 × 8.9 × 28 centimetres. According to the manufacturer, all it needs is a free power socket nearby and an internet connection. You can use LAN or WLAN here. An integrated 90 dB siren provides an acoustic warning in the event of an alarm.

In the event of a power failure, six AA batteries take over emergency operation. Depending on the package, the starter set also includes sensors in addition to the control panel, which you can use to secure a door or window against unauthorised opening or to monitor movements.

The up to 32 external sensors are commissioned via Bluetooth and the Abus app for Android or iOS. The control centre also has an integrated thermometer and hygrometer.

Control via app

Use the app to complete the «pairing», i.e. to set up additional sensors. According to Abus, this should be easy. To do this, start the application and remove the protective film from the battery compartment of the sensor. If you were hasty and removed the film beforehand, remove the batteries briefly and reinsert them.

The app gives you access to all components of your system. You can see system warnings or be informed about low battery levels. You can also programme your own scenarios. For example, the light is switched on as soon as movement is detected in the room.

In addition to the smartphone app, a wireless control unit with illuminated keypad, a remote control for the key ring and ID key fobs are also available.

Versatile security components for every need

You can gradually expand the «Smartvest Pro system» with different wireless sensors or IP cameras. You can use sensors that react to movement or vibrations or monitor the opening of windows and doors to prevent burglary attempts.

The range also includes combined smoke and heat detectors or water detectors. These warn of water damage in the basement or technical rooms, for example.

The detectors can be configured so that they alert each other.

Smart Home integration and voice control

You should be able to integrate the system into existing smart home environments. You can then activate or deactivate monitoring via Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

A special feature is the link with «Abus One» products: Smart locks such as the «Loxeris One» can be programmed so that the alarm system is automatically deactivated when the front door is unlocked. Or vice versa when the door is locked.

And if you use the wireless sockets from Abus, you can also automatically control non-smart lights or other devices. This puts the system on the borderline between an alarm system and a smart home. However, the sockets are currently only available in a Schuko design.
