Now available: "ScreenBar Halo 2" from BenQ

With the "ScreenBar Halo 2", BenQ combines three separately controllable light modes - front light, rear light and combination - with wireless control, glare-free light and infinitely adjustable colour temperature.
If you spend many hours in front of a screen, you know the problem: your eyes get tired, especially with uneven lighting. Conventional desk lamps only help to a limited extent. They cast shadows, take up space and often cause reflections on the monitor. The «ScreenBar Halo 2» from BenQ aims to solve this problem in a different way.

Light image with system
The «ScreenBar Halo 2» relies on an asymmetrical lighting concept. This means that the monitor remains free of light reflections while the work surface is evenly illuminated. The light intensity is up to 500 lux over an area of 85 × 50 centimetres.
In addition, the lamp has a rear ambient light that diffusely illuminates the wall behind the monitor. This so-called backlight is intended to soften the contrasts between the screen and the room. This is said to be a noticeable benefit for the eyes, especially in dark environments.
Both the front and backlight can be operated separately or in combination. The brightness and colour temperature can be infinitely adjusted: from a warm 2700 Kelvin to a cool 6500 Kelvin. This means that the light not only adapts to the time of day, but also to your personal preferences. An integrated ambient light sensor takes over this task automatically if required.
Operation without tangled cables
Control is via a wireless touch control module. It is placed separately on the desk and connects to the light via radio. You can save up to four of your own light profiles and call them up as required. The controller is charged via USB-C. BenQ does not provide any official information on the battery life.
Another detail is the motion sensor: if you leave your seat, the lamp recognises this and switches off automatically after five minutes. When you return, the light switches on again. You can deactivate this function at any time if you don't need it.
Design and installation
The design of the «ScreenBar» is functional. The mount fits flat and curved monitors with a thickness of between 0.43 and six centimetres. This covers most models on the market. Installation is tool-free: the light sits on the top edge of the screen using a weight clamp without damaging or blocking it. An additional counterweight stabilises the construction.
The actual light is slightly curved and can be tilted forwards to direct the light cone. At the same time, there is enough space for a webcam above the screen. The «ScreenBar» is powered via a USB-C cable supplied. A power supply unit is not included.
