Fast Snapdragon X2 and haptic feedback

All the latest-generation devices run on Snapdragon X2 processors. These are Qualcomm’s latest ARM chips for mobile devices. They are equipped with a core (NPU) specialised in AI computations, which, according to Microsoft, is said to achieve up to 80 TOPS.

You can choose between the faster «Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-78-100» and the mid-range model «Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-64-100». The «X2 Elite», with twelve cores, is suitable for heavier workloads, such as video editing, coding or light gaming. With the «X2 Plus», which has ten cores, you’ll have to compromise on peak performance.

As a new feature, the devices now also feature haptic feedback. On the Surface Pro models, the (separately available!) pen acknowledges many Windows actions with a brief vibration. On the Surface laptops, you feel the feedback via the touchpad. Thanks to the partnership with Microsoft, haptic feedback also works in Affinity Creator applications.

Surface Pro (12th Edition)

The Surface Pro’s touchscreen is ideal for painting and drawing, as well as for handwritten notes. The 2-in-1 device also supports pen control. However, you’ll need to buy the accompanying pen separately. The display has a resolution of 2880 × 1920 pixels.

The aluminium casing houses a 1440p front-facing camera with an ultra-wide-angle lens. There is also a 10-megapixel camera on the back. Two USB-C ports (USB4), Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 ensure good connectivity. According to the manufacturer, the Surface Pro offers up to 15.5 hours’ battery life and weighs 895 grammes without the keyboard.

The Surface Pro is available in black, silver and ‘ «’ Dune», a colour reminiscent of copper. Various combinations of RAM, SSD storage and processors are available.
