The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 combines precise GPS tracking with real-time training control, achieves up to 32 hours of runtime in GPS mode and remains readable even in direct sunlight thanks to its 3000-nit display.

If you run regularly, you want reliable measurements. Pace, distance and exertion must be correct during training and not just in the follow-up. This is exactly where the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 comes in. The focus is clearly on running training and endurance, not lifestyle functions.

Housing and display

The case measures 43.5 millimetres in diameter and 10.7 millimetres in height. The case and bezel are made from a titanium alloy, while the back is made from plastic. The watch weighs around 37 grammes without the strap and around 46 grammes with the included fabric strap.

The round AMOLED display has a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels at 352 PPI and achieves a brightness of 3000 nits. An ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the display. The display is activated by lifting the wrist or by touch. The watch is operated via a rotating crown as well as a power button and an additional function button.

GPS and sports suitability

Huawei promises high-precision tracking for pace and distance via GPS. When this core function is active, the battery should last up to 32 hours. According to the manufacturer, this corresponds to a distance of around 200 kilometres. Without permanently active GPS, i.e. in normal everyday use with notifications and health functions, up to 14 days are possible.

The intelligent marathon mode accompanies training and competition. It takes into account the individual performance profile, provides pace targets during the run and supports the evaluation after the race.

Health sensors

The GT Runner 2 continuously measures the heart rate. ECG and pulse wave analysis are also available, for example to detect cardiac arrhythmia. The TruSense system bundles this and other health data, including sleep analysis with breathing monitoring and body temperature measurement. The watch also recognises falls and has an SOS function.

The 9-axis sensor combines an accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer. Microphone and loudspeaker are available, Bluetooth telephony works directly from the watch. The range of functions remains limited under iOS. Text and emoji responses and the voice assistant are not available there.

Wristband and variants

The wristband is 22 millimetres wide and designed for wrists with a circumference of 120 to 190 millimetres. Two variants are included in the scope of delivery: a fabric wristband (AirDry) and a plastic wristband. Depending on the wristband, the total weight is around 46 or 57 grammes.
