The video baby monitor from Owlet is designed to bring more safety to everyday life with children with high-resolution images and alarm functions. A special feature is the high resolution of the camera.

For parents of a newborn baby, the first few months of life are characterised by great uncertainty. This is especially true at bedtime. The nursery should not be too cold, but also not too warm. In addition, parents are often afraid that their little one will stop breathing. A baby monitoring camera often helps to calm them down.

The key feature of the «Dream Sight» is its 2K HD video resolution, which the manufacturer claims delivers razor-sharp images even in low light conditions. Its predecessor, the Cam 2, still had a resolution of 1080p. The 130-degree wide-angle lens has a 4x digital zoom.

Automatic night vision is designed to enable round-the-clock surveillance. Unlike other manufacturers, the «Dream Sight» does not require a separate parent unit. It transmits the image to a smartphone.

Alarm functions and room monitoring

Movement, sound and crying alarms notify parents when the baby needs attention. In addition, the device automatically records clips when it detects crying, movement or other noises

Integrated sensors also monitor the temperature and humidity in the nursery. The «Owlet Dream app» informs parents if the values are outside the previously defined comfort zone.

Parents can speak directly to their child or reassure them using two-way audio.

Strong encryption

The technical features include dual-band Wi-Fi with support for 2.4 and 5 GHz as well as Bluetooth for onboarding. Data transmission uses 256-bit encryption, which should appeal to security-conscious parents in particular.

The 4.9 × 2.2 × 2.2 centimetre device is controlled via the manufacturer's free app. There is no subscription plan. A mains adapter for the 350 grammes camera is included.

Expansion possible with «Dream Sock»

If you want even more security, you can combine the «Dream Sight Cam» with the «Dream Sock». The medically tested sensor sock monitors heart rate, oxygen saturation and sleep behaviour in real time.

The data also ends up in the app, which sounds the alarm in the event of any abnormalities.
