The "ProArt PX13" from Asus is a convertible for mobile creative work. With a 16-core processor, 128 gigabytes of RAM and a 3K OLED display, you can edit videos and photos on the go.

If you regularly switch between the office, studio and field work, you often search in vain for hardware that combines mobility and high computing power. Usually, the display or the lack of graphics performance for mobile rendering is the main problem. The «ProArt PX13» from Asus is a 13.3-inch convertible and is aimed at professional users and users in photography and videography.

Asus offers this model in the so-called GoPro edition. A dedicated GoPro hotkey launches the appropriate software directly. Pre-installed tools take over the import and management of GoPro material. The hardware remains unchanged. Differences concern the software integration and the design.

Technical basis and computing power

The AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor forms the centrepiece. This CPU has 16 cores and 32 threads. A unique feature of this specific LX089X variant is the RAM: Asus has installed 128 gigabytes of LPDDR5X RAM here. The device relies on the integrated AMD Radeon graphics unit of the Ryzen AI Max+ processor for graphic acceleration. It is embedded directly in the chip network and utilises its common architecture. A two terabyte SSD is on board as hard drive storage.

In addition, an AMD XDNA NPU with up to 50 TOPS is employed in the processor. This neural processing unit accelerates AI-supported functions such as object recognition, face retouching or automatic image optimisation. The calculations run locally on the device. No cloud connection is required.

Display quality and ergonomics

The display features a 3K Lumina OLED panel in 16:10 format with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels. It covers 100 per cent of the DCI-P3 colour space and achieves a peak brightness of 500 nits. The response time is 0.2 milliseconds. As it is a convertible, the screen can be flipped 360 degrees. You can therefore use the device either as a classic notebook or as a graphics tablet.

You should be able to draw precisely with the stylus and it supports different pressure levels. A special feature is the Asus DialPad, which is integrated into the touchpad. You can use this virtual dial to control parameters such as brush sizes or timeline navigation directly with your finger.

Interfaces and connectivity

Despite its small dimensions of 29.82 x 20.99 x 1.58 to 1.77 centimetres (variable height), the «PX13» offers a solid range of connections directly on the side panels. Two USB4 ports enable fast data transfers and charging via USB-C. An HDMI 2.1 output, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port with 10 gigabits per second and a microSD card reader are also available.

For wireless connections, Asus relies on Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) with triple-band and 2x2 configuration as well as Bluetooth 5.4. The case weighs 1.39 kilograms and fulfils the MIL-STD 810H military standard for robustness.

Mobility in everyday life

The built-in battery has a capacity of 73 watt hours. The supplied power supply unit delivers 200 watts and charges the device via one of the two USB-C ports. The recommended charging power is between 45 and 100 watts. Both USB-C ports support Power Delivery.
