Lego for retro fans: Pac-Man arrives in June
Lego has put an end to the fans' guesswork: The new set to be released in June is a Pac-Man game machine.
The cult game Pac-Man will soon be available for nostalgics from Lego. The Danish toy giant announced this on Monday on social media and on its homepage.
Pac-Man, a slot machine from the 80s, is celebrating its 43rd birthday this year. The Lego set is modelled on the original machine and is 32 centimetres high.
However, you can't actually play the game on the Lego Pac-Man, but there are supposed to be cute details that are reminiscent of the original machine - such as a crank or a maze as a ghost hunt. The characters Pac-Man, Blinky and Clyde can be formed using the different colours of Lego bricks. They are placed on a base and can then rotate.

There is also a mini Lego figure that plays inside the machine. And of course it should also flash colourfully - just like in the arcades back then. That's why the set includes a light-up brick. This can be used to illuminate the coin slot.

Pac-Man: the beautiful yellow colour of the Lego bricks
The set, consisting of 2,651 pieces, is a collaboration with Bandai Namco. Together with Lego, it was announced that Pac-Man is yellow because designer Iwatani once enjoyed the yellow colour of the Lego bricks and was inspired by them.
On Instagram, Lego's announcement caused a storm of excitement. "How cool is that?" wrote one user under the reel showing the new Lego set. Another user wrote that he had just been woken up by his wife with this news and that he was definitely going to get the set.
This is not the first time that Lego has entered into a collaboration with video game manufacturers. For example, there is a Lego set with which you can recreate a Nintendo entertainment system or an Atari console.

As soon as we have the Lego Pac-Man in our shop, I'll let you know.
