Hair clasps: the secret to tamed hair

...or just more beautiful locks. In terms of accessory trends, hair ornaments are the latest must-have for adding the final touch to your outfit.
This season I’m going along with it. While last winter was all about hats, this year those wooly accessories have been replaced with hair clips. They’re the kind of thing I used to love when I was little. I’d fashion a side ponytail covered in hair clips to hold it in place and add a bit of pizzazz. I only realised my hair style was over the top years later. Youthful fashion ideas at their best…
These days I’ve developed a more tasteful, classy and grown up version of this trend. Simple, geometric-shaped clasps now replace the multitude of clips. They’re meant to add to your look, not dominate it. But on special occasions you can be more extravagant with your accessories. That’s when I’d opt for diamantés or gold.
Think you’re in for a bad hair day? Don’t worry. The clasp sorts it out by taking the attention off your mop and onto the hair accessory.

Bear in mind: this trend risks being cutesy. But you’ll be fine if you avoid pin- coloured clasps or those with heart, animal or polka dot patterns.

When I’m not exploring the depths of the sea as an open water diver, I enjoy plunging into the world of fashion. On the streets of Paris, Milan and New York is where I keep my eyes peeled for the latest trends. And I’ll show you how to take them from the catwalk to your everyday life.
