Eluma Nest: smart bedside crib from Graco now available
The Graco co-sleeper uses a microphone to detect when the baby cries and automatically responds with rocking, vibration, and music.
Full diapers, hunger, stomach aches: In the first months of life, babies cry regularly. But parents don't always have to get up and intervene immediately. Like adults, babies also wake up briefly again and again, but then don't immediately fall back to sleep. If boredom is added, gentle crying and whimpering quickly escalate into a veritable alarm. At least according to my experience with children and grandchildren.
The co-sleeper "Eluma Nest" from the brand Graco aims to make life easier for parents. A built-in microphone monitors the baby and triggers a calming routine when crying is detected.

A microphone for "Cry-Detection-Technology"
The core function of the co-sleeper is its "Cry-Detection-Technology". It is designed to respond to crying within a few seconds with a combination of rocking motion, vibration, and soothing music. If the child calms down, the bed maintains the current setting. If it starts crying again, the automatic system tries a different combination, according to the manufacturer.
You can deactivate the automatic system according to the operating instructions and take over control via touch. You can choose between three rocking speeds, two vibration intensities, three volume levels, white noise, and ten pre-stored melodies. If desired, you can also connect your smartphone via Bluetooth and play your own music. The speaker is located under the mattress.
Mesh sides and firm mattress for the sleeping area
Mesh fabric surrounds the lying surface on all sides, ensuring air circulation and allowing a clear view of the child. The mattress is firm and flat. The cover and mattress are washable at 30 degrees. The co-sleeper is designed for babies from birth up to about six months (nine kilograms in weight). The 55 × 78 × 91.4 centimeter bed requires a fixed power connection.
