Hello sunshine, hello trendy sunglasses. Whether aviator or wayfarer, round or oversized lenses, subtle or flashy – with these sunglasses, you're ready for summer. Let me show you the coolest sunglasses of this season and what you should consider when buying the newest trend model.

Which sunglasses are trendy this year?

Statement sunglasses are one of this season's most important trend sunglasses for women. These models feature colourful frames, patterns or playful details and are often over-sized. This trend is ideal for anyone who's brave and likes experimenting with fashion. Pilot glasses are extremely popular with men and women alike. Mirrored lenses make even the most subtle sunglasses look special and round or cat-eye lenses are very fashionable, too.

Men's pilot sunglasses can be mirrored, dark or colourful. Talking about colourful lenses: That's the real trend of this year's summer. How about orange, green, yellow or blue lenses - they're all trendy this year. As are the classic shapes, such as wayfarer, clubmaster and D-frame. Unlike the lenses, you can go easy on the frames this year. How about a metal, transparent or gold frame?

What to look out for when you're buying new sunglasses

Expensive sunglasses don't guarantee good quality, just like cheap glasses aren't necessarily bad quality. The Swiss brand Invu, for instance, produce high-quality sunglasses at affordable prices. Find our here how they do it. No matter if you're looking for a certain brand or no name glasses, make sure they provide good UV protection and fit you well. It's UV protection that prevents damage to your eyes and not, as is often incorrectly assumed, the tint of your sunglasses. The tint has nothing to do with UV protection. Make sure to buy sunglasses that either have a CE mark or are labelled with UV 400. CE marking indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards within the European Economic Area. UV 400 protects your eyes from aggressive (ultraviolet) light rays.

Which sunglasses suit me?

To help you find the right pair on sunglasses for the shape of your face, we've put together a guide (in German) with recommendations of suitable models for different types of facial features.
