Back to school: these gadgets will be a hit in the playground
How nice the holidays were. Five whole weeks doing nothing. But reality has set in and it's high time to go back to school... or to show off at the playground.
In my day, we swore by Muscles. I'd completed my Ninja Turtle sticker book and nearly twisted my ankle playing with bungee cords. Yes, I'm a child of the 90s. And because the trend is 90s - whether in terms of fashion, music or even toys - I'm taking the liberty of presenting you, with all the passion I feel for this decade, the must-haves that will set the pace this back-to-school season.
Beyblades
They're back! The principle is simple: they're nothing more than spinning tops that are launched at full speed using a thruster. The aim of the manoeuvre? To let your top hit another in an arena. Behind Bayblades is a Japanese cartoon, a bit like Pokémons.

Yoyo Squeezy Light-Up
I confess all, I wanted to become a yo-yo pro. This was long before the YouTube era - how did we survive anyway? -I learnt two tricks and then hung up straight away. I'm going to try my luck again.
UNO versus DOS
This is THE field trip game par excellence. "DOS" is an adaptation of the former. "UNO" means one and "DOS" means two... It took me a good ten minutes to work it out. Cleverly, now I've got that Pitbull song stuck in my head.

It's going to be weird hearing the kids shout "Dos" on the train. Will there be a "Tres" in 2040?
Peteca
Typical of the 90s, this good-natured game encourages coordination and awakens social instincts as participants palm the steering wheel to their teammates. If it's too quiet for you, you may well go against the rules by grabbing the shuttlecock by the feathers to hit someone.
String game
In my day, this game was for girls only, but I happily participated. It allowed me to try approaches. Or as Patti Basler would describe it: it's soft bondage for kids, so they'll already be ready for "50 Shades of Grey."
When I flew the family nest over 15 years ago, I suddenly had to cook for myself. But it wasn’t long until this necessity became a virtue. Today, rattling those pots and pans is a fundamental part of my life. I’m a true foodie and devour everything from junk food to star-awarded cuisine. Literally. I eat way too fast.
