The "Scuf Omega" offers additional buttons, TMR sticks, and triggers with two modes. You can also customize many of the controls individually.

The Playstation 5 DualSense controller is perfectly adequate for most players. If you want more customization options, have higher ambitions in competitive games, or simply enjoy using a premium controller, the «Scuf Omega» might be of interest to you.

This is a high-end controller licensed by Sony for the PS5 from the brand Scuf. It is available from us in four color variants.

You can use the «Scuf Omega» on a PC or with a mobile device: It can be connected via USB-C as well as wirelessly via Bluetooth or the included 2.4 GHz dongle.

Additional buttons

The controller has four freely assignable buttons on the back. You can reach these so-called rear paddles with your middle or ring fingers. With the DualSense, you have to take your thumb off the analog stick for actions like jumping, reloading, and crouching, briefly losing control over camera movement or aiming. With the «Scuf Omega», however, your thumbs stay on the sticks while you use the rear paddles for these actions.

Additionally, there are two freely assignable side buttons that you operate with your index fingers. If you don't need them, you can remove them and cover the recesses with the included covers.

There are five more buttons on the bottom of the controller. Three of them control audio and microphone functions by default, but can be reassigned if necessary.

There are two modes available for the triggers: In standard mode, they detect how deep you press them. This is suitable for racing games, for example, when you use them to accelerate or brake. In instant mode, the triggers activate with even slight pressure. This allows for faster inputs, such as when shooting in shooters. Scuf does not use the adaptive triggers of the DualSense. Instead, the focus is on the fastest and most direct inputs possible.

For the trigger, D-pad, and action buttons, Scuf uses mechanical microswitches from the Japanese manufacturer Omron. They shorten the travel distance and ensure faster activation as well as a «defined click feel», as the manufacturer states.

Replaceable, magnetic sticks

For the sticks, Scuf uses magnetic-based sensors instead of the potentiometers common in many controllers. Since position detection is contactless, a typical source of wear for conventional analog sticks is eliminated. This is intended to reduce the risk of stick drift. According to Scuf, the TMR (Tunneling Magnetoresistance) sticks are designed to have a longer lifespan and offer higher precision.

According to Scuf, the sticks can also be replaced quickly. Longer sticks make aiming easier, while shorter sticks allow for faster movements and turns. The shape of the thumb rest – convex or concave, i.e., recessed – is also a matter of taste for many players.
