Whether technical trails, wet descents or dry tours: Shimano provides suitable options for various mountain bike applications with two new shoe models.

Mountain bike shoes directly influence how well you pedal and how securely you stand on the pedals. Your control on technical terrain also partly depends on them. Shimano has developed two new mountain bike models that are designed with this in mind: SH-GE700 and SH-GE900. Both are available in sizes 39 to 48. The SH-GE700 are explicitly for men, the SH-GE900 unisex.

Shimano SH-GE900: Click shoe for enduro and downhill with maximum protection

The SH-GE900 is Shimano's top model for enduro and downhill. It uses the SPD click system. SPD stands for Shimano Pedaling Dynamics: a mechanism in which you are directly connected to the pedal via a metal plate (cleat). The cleats are positioned in the centre of the foot - further back than with classic SPD shoes. According to Shimano, this should improve control on technical trails and ensure a more stable stance on the pedals.

For a balanced combination of efficiency and mobility, a carbon-reinforced midsole with an integrated «Torbal 2.0» plate is used. It allows targeted movements in the heel area without reducing stiffness in the forefoot. The outsole is made from «Ultread GE», a rubber compound with a grippy tread for traction on soft or loose surfaces.

The closure is via a «BOA L6» system, which is located under a protective cover. The twist lock is adjustable, should be easy to operate with one hand and easy to grip with gloves. The protective cover reduces the risk of the system accidentally coming loose or being damaged if it comes into contact with stones or branches. An elasticated neoprene cuff also protects the ankle area from debris, dirt and splashing water.

Shimano SH-GE700: robust click shoe for trail and enduro

The SH-GE700 is an SPD-compatible shoe for riders who value a firm grip. The profiled outsole offers traction on slippery surfaces. The «Torbal 2.0» midsole supports controlled movements when cornering.

A wide Velcro fastener complements the classic lacing and stabilises the midfoot. The cleat mount is designed so that clicking in and out works reliably even in muddy conditions.
