SooNice

SooNice brand text :

One day at a family dinner, SooNice founders Christina, Doris and Laura realised how important it is for children to wear sunglasses and that there were no sustainably produced models on the market in Europe. After extensive research and discussions with leading eye specialists, the three entrepreneurs immediately knew what needed to be done: to "reinvent" children's sunglasses from scratch.

SooNice Sunnies are sunglasses designed for children and not just smaller adult sunglasses. 100% UV-A & UV-B protection and specially designed side flaps protect children's eyes perfectly from UV radiation. In addition, SooNice sunglasses are lightweight and flexible and if a temple falls out of the frame, it can simply be clicked back in. The sunglasses are made locally in Italy from recycled nylon (ECONYL®). This means that no new plastic is put into circulation and many transport routes are saved.

100% UV protection for your children's eyes
Due to the larger pupils of children compared to adults, their highly sensitive retinal cells are much more exposed to UV light, but there are no specially adapted sunglasses for babies and children, which can lead to serious damage to the tissue and cells of the human eye.

How much protection do sunglasses lenses provide?
Sunglasses lenses are divided into four categories:
- CAT 0 - Very limited protection against sun glare.
- CAT 1 - Limited protection against sun glare.
- CAT 2 - Good protection against sun glare.
- CAT 3 - HIGH PROTECTION AGAINST SUN GLARE.
- CAT 4 - Very high protection against extreme sun glare, e.g. (at sea, high mountains, desert)

Startup SooNice has opted for category 3 lenses as they are perfect for babies' and children's eyes.

Also protects the eyes from the side:
Thanks to the side and top shields, no UV rays hit your child's eye from the side, which is often reflected by water or snow.

Made for children and babies:
As the sunglasses are made from plastic waste recovered ECONYL nylon, they are particularly lightweight and bendable to a certain extent so that the glasses don't break too easily. However, as most glasses break at the hinges, the Austrian start-up has developed click-on hinges so that the temples can simply be clicked back into place if they should break. The quality of the lenses is also impressive, with fairly scratch-resistant lenses that are designed for any adventure, whether on a sandy beach or the next mountain hike.

ECONYL®, regenerated nylon
The founding team of SooNice wanted to avoid putting new plastic into circulation in order to leave a better world for our children. For this reason, the sunglasses are made from ECONYL nylon, which is made from 100% nylon waste and can even be regenerated indefinitely.

Local value chain:
The glasses and the design are developed in Austria and manufactured in Italy to save transport distances.
