In 1969, Giancarlo Zanatta, a young entrepreneur and boot manufacturer from Montebelluna, Italy, was visiting New York to watch - along with the rest of the world - the live broadcast of the moon landing. Moved by this historic moment and inspired by the special shape and technology of the astronaut boots, he made a sketch of what would become one of the greatest successes in the footwear industry: the Moon Boot. Upon returning to Italy, he designed and developed the boots to market, and everything after that is history. Moon Boots have become statement pieces, and already since the early 70s they have been emblematic of irony, fashion and design.
