Knoll International

Founded in New York in 1938, Knoll International is one of the world's leading home and office furnishings companies thanks to its inspiring and timeless products. The company founder Hans Knoll belonged to the third generation of a family of furniture makers from Stuttgart. He moved to the United States in the 1930s to establish ideas and shapes of European design. Knoll has always remained true to the principles of the Bauhaus philosophy: Modern furniture complete architectural space and don't compete with it.
With the valuable support of his wife Florence, who, as an architect and designer, pioneered the interior design profession of her time, Hans Knoll pursued the goal of developing furniture in a modern, unique design with an unmistakable personality and producing it with the highest standards of workmanship and quality. In 1951, the company founded subsidiaries in France and Germany in order to contribute to the post-war reconstruction of Europe. In the 1950s, Knoll gained wide recognition by focussing on elegant, innovative design and by maintaining close and friendly collaboration with the greatest design talents of the time.
