Our engineers designed these sunglasses for hiking. The lightweight glasses with a good fit are ideal for regular use in the mountains.
Regular hikers will love these hiking sunglasses. They weigh only 26 g and feature UV-protective lenses. The larger lenses also provide superior peripheral vision.
The classification of the tinted lenses is according to the ISO 12312-1 standard: Category 1: lightly tinted lenses for reduced sunlight. Category 2: moderately tinted lenses for medium sunlight. Category 3: darkly tinted lenses for strong sunlight (sea and mountains). Between 82% and 92% of visible light is absorbed. Category 4: very darkly tinted lenses for exceptional sunlight (high mountains). Between 92% and 97% of visible light is absorbed. Our lenses are made from polycarbonate – a material that is highly impact-resistant but not particularly scratch-resistant.
Even if the lenses are scratched, the UV protection remains fully intact; the mirror effect is purely aesthetic. This also applies to the color of the sunglasses. Whether gray, brown, or colored – the protection applies to every color.
Why use a material with UV protection? To protect your eyes from invisible UV rays. UV rays are always present, in winter, in summer, in sunny weather, and even on cloudy days, which can be harmful to the eyes. To preserve eyesight, the lenses of our sunglasses are made from polycarbonate with a blend of UV-protective material to shield the eyes from harmful UVA and UVB rays.
