The best of trainers – exploring new styles and colours

Our new trainers have landed! Whether you like yours brightly coloured or adorned with cheeky fruit patterns, made of breathable canvas or classic leather, we’ve got something for you. With my top 5 picks for men and women you’re sure to find a new favourite.

1. Colourful head-turners

These bright trainers are crying out for summer. With their popping colours, how could you possibly be in a bad mood? Thanks to the leather style, even torrential rain can’t get you down or your feet wet.

2. Sporty classics

Legends need legendary shoes, just like top skater Dennis Busenitz. adidas developed a proper skater shoe based on the Copa Mundial football boot. The high upper gives support and the leather outer material protects you from cuts and scrapes. All in all, it’s the perfect shoe for skaters – pros and wannabes alike.

3. Back to their roots

Let’s go back to where it all began. Nike’s Air Max Zero is in fact the predecessor of the Air Max. The renowned colour scheme was born out of Tinker Hatfield's original sketch. Did you know the black and white combo is also inspired by the famous Oreo colours? These trainers are known for their light weight, seamless design and great cushioning.

4. Plastic is fantastic

The Air Max LD Zero was designed by the streetwear pioneer Hiroshi Fujiwara, a member of the Nike HTM design collective. He gave the Nike LD-1000 uppers from 1970 soles from the innovative 360 Air Max. This all-black style is a combination of leather and mesh, a design that lets your feet breathe even on hot days.

5. Ethical trainers

You won’t have a guilty conscience when you wear these trainers. Veja makes them in fair conditions and in an ecologically responsible way. The crisp design and combination of canvas and leather ensures these trainers will be timeless classics.

1. Cool breeze

Say goodbye to sweaty feet with the Nike Air Presto. Thanks to the mesh uppers, these shoes are still breathable even on the hottest of days. But it’s not just your feet that feel like they’re floating on a breeze. The small plastic detailing and workmanship keep your legs feeling light.

2. Fruity fun

Adorned with cute cherries, the Superga Cotu Classic is guaranteed to turn heads. These trainers are so versatile; you can pair them with almost anything. To turn up the sweet factor, wear them with a floaty summer dress.

3. Pastel daydream

Trainers don’t always have to be white. The Reebok classic is now available in a trendy pastel colour. One look at these and you’ll be transported to summer holidays with a pistachio ice cream in hand. They look great with jeans or dresses and guarantee envious stares.

4. Fiery red

You can’t help but do a double take when you see these New Balance trainers. They look a bit like grey trainers through red-tinted glasses. But of course, they’re much more sophisticated than that and are the perfect, bright red accompaniment to summer.

5. Flying high

Step back into the 90s and stay bang on trend with these platform trainers. The 90s are still in fashion and are set to wield their influence on the catwalks well into autumn. Combine the Superga 2790 Acotw with tracksuit bottoms and you’ll not only be following in the footsteps of the Spice Girls but also Hollywood’s glittering stars.
