Vienna 1894: Gravedigger Augustin Rothmayer is asked by Inspector Leopold von Herzfeldt for an unusual favor. The eccentric gravedigger from the Vienna Central Cemetery, who knows every aspect of death, is to tell him everything about the preservation of the deceased.
