Through the history of Märklin catalog titles. The painting adorning this car depicts a large passenger station with a massive track yard, including a station hall that can be seen at the top edge of the image. Various trains are waiting on the track yard for signal Zp 9, the departure order from the train conductor or the station supervisor - affectionately called Little Red Riding Hood - to the engineer. Of course, the signalman must have set the departure signal to proceed - signal Hp 1. On the furthest track stands a locomotive of the BR 95 (formerly Prussian T20) with a passenger train. The neighboring track hosts perhaps the largest - and for many model railroad enthusiasts unattainable - highlight of the Märklin brand from the 1930s: the Crocodile! At the time of the last catalog title in 1933, it was still being born, meaning it was being constructed and developed, but by 1934 it was running on some O and 1 gauge layouts. Like a little crocodile in the wild. It is pulling a light brown express train - could it be a Pullman Express - that the reptile is supposed to haul over the Gotthard? In the foreground of the painting, two classic standard steam locomotives stand, one in classic black-red, the other in blue. The latter is tasked with transporting a blue express train. Could these be the international cars of the CIWL? However, at that time, neither in reality nor in the Märklin range were the locomotives blue. But there is much more to discover and interpret in the painting! Let your imagination run wild. Prototype: Private refrigerated car Ibopqs with the cover image of the Märklin catalog from 1935.
