In the description it says "The intrigued irrigation system with moisture indicator always shows you how much water your plants need". However, it turns out that it is "only" a drainage system in the form of a false bottom with holes through which excess water can run off and thus waterlogging can be avoided. The indicator shows how much water is in the collection container. However, the soil cannot absorb the water again (except through evaporation), so as I understand it, it is not an irrigation system. Or have I not understood the concept?

I think this is mainly true when the pot is covered and the drain is closed.
Depending on the pot structure and the plant, it can make the roots reach the lowest area and thus use the water.
