Product details
The Garmin Drive 50-GPS-Navi offers alarms for drivers to increase safety while driving. Get warnings for sharp turns, speed changes, level crossings, game passes and more.
If you are driving the wrong way down a one-way street or near school areas, Garmin Drive 50 alerts you as well. Even if there are traffic lights and speed cameras³ nearby, you are warned and prepared for sudden stops with traffic jam alerts. For longer trips, the fatigue warning suggests break times and possible rest areas after you've driven for hours. The function for POIs along the route shows you POIs and important points such as restaurants or shops. You do not even have to leave the map page to do this.
FREE, UNLIMITED TRAFFIC RADIO SUBSCRIPTION TO AVOID TRAFFIC JAMS
The free Garmin (premium) traffic radio via RDS-TMC provides details on the location, such as how many minutes delay is to be expected and whether there are possible time-saving bypasses. You can also confirm whether you are on the fastest route. With an unlimited traffic broadcast subscription, the Garmin Drive 50 can receive traffic information for free throughout the life of the device - no advertising or subscription fees. Garmin traffic information is sent directly to the Garmin Drive 50.
NAVIGATION INSTRUCTIONS BASED ON EASILY RECOGNISABLE POINTS
With Garmin Real Directions, the Garmin Drive 50 redefines turn-by-turn directions by announcing street names. You receive easy-to-understand driving instructions and are guided to your destination just like a real passenger. Easily recognisable landmarks, buildings and traffic lights serve as clues (e.g. "Turn right after the red building" or "Turn left after McDonalds"). Thanks to Foursquare, millions of additional new and popular points of interest are pre-installed on the device.
FIND EXACTLY YOUR TARGET
The Direct Access feature simplifies navigation to certain large scale destinations such as airports and shopping malls, as a destination can be found even in a larger complex. If you are driving to a shopping center, Direct Access provides additional information on specific shops.
SEARCH EASIER, FIND FASTER
Addresses and millions of Points of Interest (POIs) are easy to find using the Garmin Drive 50 search box. Just enter a category (for example, "Pizza"), a full address, or a name ("McDonalds"), and Garmin Drive 50 instantly lists the results. Mistyped your name? The Garmin Drive 50 handles this with ease and displays multiple search results that resemble what you typed.
OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES: ONE CAMERA
You can get even more information while driving by pairing the Garmin Drive 50 with the BC 30 Wireless Rearview Camera (sold separately; installation by qualified personnel recommended). After the unit is connected, you can see vehicles, pedestrians, and other obstacles directly on the Garmin Drive 50 display when you reverse. For rides with a baby or toddler, the Garmin babyCam is an accessory. The babyCam is a baby surveillance camera in the vehicle, with which you can see a live image of the passengers in the back seat directly on the display of the navigation system.
NOTE: In some countries the use of camera equipment is regulated or prohibited by law. You must familiarize yourself with the applicable laws and rights of privacy that apply in the jurisdictions where you intend to use a camera device with respect to the use of these devices, and you must comply with these laws and rights.
