Is it a portable treehouse?

That’s what it looks like, right? You could also call it a hanging tent or a covered hammock. What’s sure is that this is an absolute must-have for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts. Read on to find out more.

Sleeping on cloud nine

Tentsile tree tents allow you to sleep comfortably, floating above the ground, a river or anything you wish. This tent for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts opens up a new world of sleeping and relaxing possibilities – as comfortable as in a hammock and away from creepy crawlies and other animals.

All you need are three trees

Your portable tree tent suspends from three trees that are about six to eight metres apart and have trunks that are at least 25 cm thick. You can even set your tent up on a slope or over a river. First off, you wrap the slack line straps around each of three trees and then connect the ratchet straps to the tie-out points on the tent. Setting the Tentsile up doesn’t take more than 10 to 15 minutes.

Who’s the inventor?

Alex Shirley-Smith and Kirk Kirchev, two friends from England, got their inspiration from treehouses. The two outdoor enthusiasts started small: They produced a few prototypes themselves and sold them to friends. The demand quickly started growing and they couldn’t produce so many tents themselves, so they hired professional tailors. Today, the two founders work with and support organisations around the world, committed to protecting the environment. For every tent they sell, three trees are planted.

Cool.
