Most of the time, not only a washing machine but also a dryer is needed in the laundry room. If washing machine and tumble dryer are stacked on top of each other, it is called a washing tower. The washing machines and tumble dryers in the set fit in each case in the format and are suitable for washing towers. Washing towers are space-saving and facilitate the work, because the laundry can be easily removed from the washing machine and put into the dryer. After drying, the laundry can easily be taken out of the tumble dryer at eye level. Of course, the washing machine and tumble dryer can not only be stacked to save space as a washing tower, but also placed next to each other as a side-by-side combination.
Most washing towers have a capacity of 7 to 10 kilograms. The loading capacity of both units should be similar. It depends primarily on the amount of laundry in the household. The higher the spin speed per minute of the washing machine, the lower the residual moisture content of the laundry, which means that it dries faster in the tumble dryer. A minimum spin speed of 1400 rpm is recommended and a good washing machine/tumbler combination is characterised by the fact that the washing machine already spins a lot of residual moisture out of the clothes. The tumble dryer should also dry them completely quickly and easily afterwards. Coordinated loading capacities as well as washing and drying programmes are decisive in this respect.
Although the washer-dryer is a space-saving and cost-effective alternative to the washing tower, there are still various arguments in favour of a washer-dryer column rather than a full washer-dryer. Most washer-dryers have a greater loading capacity for the washing cycle than for drying. This means that often some laundry has to be removed before drying. This can be avoided by using a washer-dryer combination, as the capacity of the tumble dryer and the washing machine are matched to each other. The laundry only has to be transferred from the washing machine to the dryer once. In addition, full washer-dryers usually do not achieve the same energy efficiency class as washing machines and tumble dryers that operate separately. A washing tower is therefore ultimately much more economical and also more ecological.
Even if it is a bit easier to buy a pre-assembled washing tower, you can of course also assemble your own washing tower. It is important that you choose two appliances of the same brand, which have a similar capacity and a similar appearance. If you want to stack the two units you will also need a suitable intermediate kit.
By stacking the washing machine and tumble dryer to form a washer-dryer column, they often fit into small bathrooms. The washing machine is always placed under the tumble dryer and the two appliances are connected by an intermediate kit and the tumble dryer is fixed on the washing machine.
If there is enough space in the width, the washing machine and the tumble dryer can also be placed next to each other as a side-by-side combination. The advantage is that many people find this arrangement of washing machine and tumble dryer makes it easier to reload the laundry. In addition, with side-by-side combinations, a base can be used underneath the machine, so that both appliances are at a practical working height. Our washing towers from Miele, V-Zug, Bosch, Siemens, Bauknecht, Electrolux, AEG, Samsung etc. can also be purchased from us with practical additional services (e.g. delivery and commissioning, return and disposal of the old appliance, etc.).
