Dyson Cyclone V10: new dimensions in technology, motor and suction power

Having worked on the new cord-free Cyclone V10 for five years, Dyson and has come up with a vacuum cleaner that offers up to 60 minutes of powerful suction – more than any other cordless vacuum on the market, as Dyson claim.

With a motor that weighs half as much as the one of the preceding model, this vacuum cleaner is lightweight and portable. The combination of a digital engine and the flexibility of previous Dyson models is sure to force the competition to act.

Cutting-edge technology and vacuum cleaning combined.

The pride of the company

At the Dyson Cyclone V10 press conference, founder James Dyson announced: «A strong performing machine starts with an efficient motor. The Dyson digital motor V10 is Dyson’s most advanced motor. It’s allowed us to come up with a cordless model that’s more powerful than any other Dyson vacuum cleaner.» According to Dyson, this new vacuum takes cleaning at home to a new level: «Our new cordless vacuum cleaner is so light and powerful that it can even remove stubborn dirt in your home. This is why Dyson stops investing in wired vacuum cleaners. It's time to say goodbye to conventional cable vacuum cleaners.»

Powerful suction allows for efficient vacuum cleaning.

Tomorrow’s technology

The founder of Dyson has decided to turn Switzerland into the first European country to be cordless by 2019 – of course, he’s referring to vacuum cleaning. While it’s not surprising that smaller hand-held vacuum cleaners are almost exclusively cordless, implementing this for full-size vacuum cleaners is an optimistic undertaking.

Packed with technology and innovation, the true revolution in Dyson’s new model is its digital motor V10. This new motor made it possible to rotate the cyclones and the container arrangement – compared to the previous models – by 90 degrees and arrange them in a so-called inline format. This results in a linear airflow path, which increases suction power by 20%. In addition, the container is 40% larger, which means you’re supposed to be able to do more cleaning and less emptying.

Packed with technology: the new Dyson motor V10.

It’s all about the motor

Regular brush motors, such as those used in many other vacuum cleaners, normally weigh around 800 grams and rotate at a maximum of 40,000 revolutions per minute. The new Dyson engine is said to achieve up to 125,000 revolutions per minute – more than three times more than the V2 model. To make this possible, Dyson's bright minds had to come up with more than just one innovation. The new Dyson digital motor V10 is supposed to be smart enough to continuously adjust the suction power to maintain maximum performance. Let’s say you’re vacuuming the floor underneath a table: Sensors measure temperature, air pressure and the difference in height between table and floor and use this information to make internal adjustments. By doing so, the cleaner performs with maximum power at all times.

Get rid of dust and dirt – Dyson is planning to take vacuum cleaning to the next level.

Clean air

While some vacuum cleaners produce more dirt while working than they remove, the new Dyson engine is designed to filter microscopically small dust particles from the air by using 14 cyclones to move the air at speeds of up to 190 km/h. Not only the motor is new, but also the filter system. By combining all filters in one closed unit, the filters are even more efficient. According to Dyson, 99.97% of all allergens up to 0.3 micron are filtered and clean air is released. Dyson further claim to offer cleaner heads that dig deep into carpets and dislodge even stubborn dirt. If the new Dyson Cyclone V10 delivers what the engineers, facts and the founder promise, they’ve managed to come up with a real revolution in vacuum cleaning.

I just had a Dyson and one of the plastic parts got broken after 3 years. Not really rocket solid. Now waiting and hoping I can change it for a fair price.

Hallo Raffi_Sidi. Der v10 Absolute ist nun wieder im Shop zu finden – bis Ende Woche sollte er dann auch wieder ab Fremdlager verfügbar sein.
