Product details

Julian wants to become a dancer. Far from home, he discovers himself anew in Paris. There, he immerses himself in the world of ballet schools, dance studios, stages, and especially the nightlife. At the same time, his father struggles to reclaim his life at home on the outskirts of the Southern Black Forest, grappling with numerous personal losses and an ever-present loneliness. He is unable to do so until he makes a discovery: a box that belonged to his grandfather first leads him to Paris and eventually to Berlin with his son. Right in the midst of the events surrounding the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. A journey where nothing remains as it was. Jochen Heckmann, in his debut novel, poetically and sensually plays with characters, times, perspectives, and events that encompass the 20th century in Germany and converge in the fateful year of 1989.
