The Guidelines for Riding and Driving, consisting of six volumes, are the standard work and foundation for the classical training of horses as well as riders, drivers, and vaulters. They provide the essential foundational knowledge for all areas of equestrian sports and horse care. The first edition of Volume 1 was published more than 50 years ago and has since appeared in 31 different editions. It has been translated into eleven languages and has been available in a new layout since 2012. Adhering to these traditional principles leads to an appropriate training of the horse, thus ensuring its health and performance. As a basis for communication and understanding between horse and rider, the nature of the horse and its natural behavior are thoroughly presented. Current scientific findings from training and movement science are also included.
