Danski and Wajaroff, two characters in Rainer Wieczorek's new artist novella, encounter the illustrator Serena Amrein in a decommissioned shoe factory. While Amrein's artistic work takes on increasingly powerful forms, the stories told by Danski and Wajaroff revolve around disappearance: the disappearance of the Burg Waldeck festivals, the classic John Coltrane quartet, the shoe production in Pirmasens - the end of an era becomes palpable. When the narrator writes to the author that this cannot continue, the conflicts begin.
