Product details

Chabo - the dwarf chickens originally from Japan - initially make a somewhat grotesque impression on the observer. This is due to the pronounced breed characteristics of the dwarfs: an unusually steep tail, an extremely large comb, a somewhat stocky body, and not least, the short legs. The unique harmony of these poultry oddities often reveals itself only when one engages more deeply and for a longer time with the animals. The book provides an overview of the history of Chabo breeding and presents the breed characteristics as well as the many attractive and diverse color variations of the German standard. Enthusiasts and breeders receive valuable information on housing and care, breeding and raising, as well as inheritance. The history of the Chabo Club and the significance of poultry exhibitions for breeding, along with suggestions for promoting youth involvement, are also addressed here.
