Diabetes mellitus is a widespread chronic disease, with a suspected biological connection. Diabetes is a significant chronic condition worldwide, as evidenced by the World Health Organization (WHO) classifying the rise in diabetes prevalence as an epidemic. According to WHO estimates, in 1985, there were 30 million people affected by diabetes globally. This number increased to 135 million by 1995 and reached 217 million in 2005. By 2030, the WHO predicts that this number will rise to at least 366 million.
