However, the bridge is a useful addition to the smart lighting of your home and motion sensors or switchable sockets can also be controlled via the bridge. At the same time, you also create the basis for controlling your lighting via voice control (Alexa, Google, Siri) in connection with Google Home/Apple HomeKit.
