Creative Sound Blaster AE-9PE
PCI-E x1
According to the technical data sheet, the sound card can only be operated if the PC power supply has at least 500 watts of power. I find this information a bit special because the maximum power consumption of the card is not specified. In my PC I only have a 200Watt power supply, of which about 70Watt would be available for the sound card. In my opinion, that's a lot for a sound card. Does anyone here have experience whether the card can also be operated with a weaker power supply?
"Creative also plays it safe with the power supply. Instead of drawing the power completely from the mainboard, which would be a lot with the +48 volt phantom power supply, the sound card has an additional 6-pin PCI Express power connector. This does not have to be connected, but is necessary if the Audio Control Module (ACM) is to be used. So without the additional power supply, you can only use the connections directly on the sound card."
This is what it says in a test link: https://basic-tutorials.de/creative-s...
Hello, the Blaster homepage states: "The PC power supply must be 80Plus Bronze Certified, with at least 500 watts output power and 2 x 6-pin PCI Express connector."
