Transcend 340K (128GB, 2.5", 3.5" Bracket)

Description

To overcome the limits of portable computing, Transcend's SSD340 SATA III SSD boasts incredibly fast transfer speeds, a compact and lightweight design, shock and vibration resistance. That means you can enjoy a seamless, lag-free computing experience even when using your notebook on an extended journey.

Transcend's SSD340 is built using high-quality synchronous multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory for enduring performance. With the next-generation SATA III 6Gb/s interface, DDR3 DRAM cache and a powerful controller, the SSD340 delivers the blazing-fast read and write speeds of up to 550MB/s and 330MB/s - 5x faster than a HDD. As a result, the SSD340 makes everyday computing tasks, such as booting up your computer, launching applications, and transferring data, quicker than ever before.

The SSD340 maximizes notebook battery life when not in use thanks to the full support of SATA Device Sleep Mode (DevSleep). DevSleep ultra low power state conserves more battery power than current power saving features such as standby mode by shutting down the SATA interface completely. With a remarkable response time of less than 20 milliseconds, you can start working on your computer again almost instantly.

The SSD340 offers an aggressive garbage collection and recycling system. To further increase the lifespan of the SSD340, built-in wear-leveling and Error Correction Code (ECC) ensure continued reliable data transfer. SSD Scope also includes a convenient System Clone utility to help make upgrading your existing computer to the performance boost of an SSD340 quick and easy.

Notebook

A laptop, also called a notebook, is a personal computer for mobile use. A laptop integrates most of the typical components of a desktop computer, including a display, a keyboard, a pointing device (a touchpad, also known as a trackpad, and/or a pointing stick) and speakers into a single unit. A laptop is powered by mains electricity via an AC adapter, and can be used away from an outlet using a rechargeable battery.

Read transfer speed

Data transfer rate or just transfer rate is the average number of bits, characters, or blocks per unit time passing between equipment in a data transmission system.

Transfer rates can serve several functions. The response time can help a network administrator pinpoint where slowdowns and potential hangups exist in a network. By analyzing data transfer rates and adjusting accordingly as a preventative measure, a system can be made more efficient and will be more prepared to handle extra bandwidth constraints in times of heavy usage.

Testing mechanisms such as fiber optic loopbacks can assist in measuring and conducting data transfer tests.

TRIM Support

In computing, a TRIM command allows an operating system to inform a solid-state drive (SSD) which blocks of data are no longer considered in use and can be wiped internally. While TRIM is frequently spelled in capital letters, it is not an acronym; it is merely a command name.
TRIM was introduced soon after SSDs started to become an affordable alternative to traditional hard disks. Because low-level operation of SSDs differs significantly from traditional hard disks, the typical way in which operating systems handle operations like deletes and formats (not explicitly communicating the involved sectors/pages to the underlying storage medium) resulted in unanticipated progressive performance degradation of write operations on SSDs. TRIM enables the SSD to handle garbage collection overhead, that would otherwise significantly slow down future write operations to the involved blocks, in advance.
