Description

30x zoom lens with integrated Zeiss quality:
Experience the result of more than 150 years of Zeiss expertise in precision optics: This 24-720 mm lens provides natural, razor-sharp images with high contrast from every perspective - whether for portrait, close-up or landscape photography.
In addition, the Zeiss T* anti-reflective multiple coating reduces ghost effects and light reflections on the lens surface.

Exmor RCMOS sensor for particularly high sensitivity:
The more light falls on a sensor, the more brilliant the images become. The 18.2-megapixel Exmor RCMOS sensor effectively captures four times more light than conventional sensors.
It is also twice as light-sensitive and reduces noise using Sony's A/D conversion technology.

Bionz X for more detail and less noise:
Using technologies for detail rendering, diffraction reduction, and area-specific noise reduction, the Bionz X Image Processor converts data from the Exmor RCMOS sensor to high-resolution images.
This combination enables extremely precise and realistic images with even more lifelike colours and textures.

Fast Wi-Fi/NFC connection for easy sharing:
Built-in NFC (Near Field Communication) technology lets you quickly establish Wi-Fi connectivity to Android mobile devices. Share your favorite photos and videos in seconds by transferring them directly from the camera to your friends' and family members' smartphones or tablets.
And with PlayMemories Mobile, you can even remotely control the camera from your mobile device.

180° tilting LCD display for easy image composition:
The high-resolution LCD display on the back of the camera can be tilted up to 180 degrees. Thus, even if you are in front of the camera, you can easily check the composition of the image on the LC display before making a selfie, for example.
And for shots from a frog's perspective, too, this flexible LC display provides convenient handling and positioning.

Image sensor resolution
i

Image sensor resolution

The image sensor resolution results from the number of pixels in millions. For most applications, a resolution of 12-16 megapixels is sufficient. A higher resolution has advantages, especially in post-processing, as more image information is available.

i

Image sensor type

An image sensor is a device that converts an optical image to an electric signal. It is used mostly in digital cameras and other imaging devices. An image sensor is typically a charge-coupled device (CCD) or a complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) active-pixel sensor.

i

CMOS

Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) is a term for semiconductor devices that use both p-channel and n-channel MOSFETs on a common substrate. CMOS technology refers to both the semiconductor process used to realize integrated digital and analog circuits and a logic family. CMOS technology is the most widely used logic family today and is mainly used for integrated circuits.

ISO light sensitivity (auto)
i

ISO light sensitivity (auto)

The American Standards Association (ASA) and the Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) film speed standards have been combined into the ISO standards. The current International Standard for measuring the speed of color negative film is ISO 5800:1987 from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Related standards ISO 6:1993 and ISO 2240:2003 define scales for speeds of black-and-white negative film and color reversal film. This system defines both an arithmetic and a logarithmic scale, combining the previously separate ASA and DIN systems.
Commonly, the logarithmic speed is omitted; for example, "ISO 100" denotes ISO 100/21°.

ISO light sensitivity (manual)
i

ISO light sensitivity (manual)

The ISO 5800 standard defines the light sensitivity of film material.
For both scales: the higher the number, the more light-sensitive the film. For linear ASA scaling, a double value corresponds to twice the sensitivity. In the logarithmic DIN scale, an increase of 3° corresponds to a doubling.
In photography, doubling the light sensitivity of the film material means that under given lighting conditions the exposure time can be halved to avoid camera shake or the lens can be closed one f-stop further to achieve a greater depth of field.

Optical zoom

An optical zoom serves to enlarge the subject in the image section without having to change its position. Optical zooms are superior to digital zooms because zooming does not take place at the expense of image resolution.

Maximum aperture
i

Maximum aperture

Aperture is a (normally mechanical) device on cameras which can be used to change the light transmission through the optical system (lens). It is usually designed as a lamella screen (also known as an iris screen), in which circularly arranged lamella sheets shift into one another in such a way that the light transmission becomes narrower or wider and thus the incident light beam becomes smaller or larger. The iris is positioned in the beam path in such a way that it only acts as an aperture iris diaphragm and not as a field of view diaphragm.

i

Contrast-based

Focusing by means of contrast measurement at contour edges is basically the same as focusing the eye, i.e. the photographer, without further aids: The image width of the lens is varied until the brightness curve at light/dark contour edges has a maximum steepness. The camera's processor calculates the frequency distribution in the image, and the greater the proportion of high frequencies (i.e. abrupt light-dark changes), the sharper the image.

Image file formats

Image file formats are standardized means of organizing and storing digital images. Image files are composed of either pixel or vector (geometric) data that are rasterized to pixels when displayed (with few exceptions) in a vector graphic display. The pixels that constitute an image are ordered as a grid (columns and rows); each pixel consists of numbers representing magnitudes of brightness and color.

JPEG

In computing, JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital photography (image). The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality. JPEG typically achieves 10:1 compression with little perceptible loss in image quality.

JPEG compression is used in a number of image file formats. JPEG/Exif is the most common image format used by digital cameras and other photographic image capture devices; along with JPEG/JFIF, it is the most common format for storing and transmitting photographic images on the World Wide Web. These format variations are often not distinguished, and are simply called JPEG.

Battery-operated

A rechargeable battery or storage battery is a group of one or more electrochemical cells. They are known as secondary cells because their electrochemical reactions are electrically reversible. Rechargeable batteries come in many different shapes and sizes, ranging anything from a button cell to megawatt systems connected to stabilize an electrical distribution network. Several different combinations of chemicals are commonly used, including: lead-acid, nickel cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal hydride (NiMH), lithium ion (Li-ion), and lithium ion polymer (Li-ion polymer).

Rechargeable batteries have lower total cost of use and environmental impact than disposable batteries. Some rechargeable battery types are available in the same sizes as disposable types. Rechargeable batteries have higher initial cost, but can be recharged very cheaply and used many times.

i

Power supply

A power supply is a device that supplies electrical energy to one or more electric loads. The term is most commonly applied to devices that convert one form of electrical energy to another, though it may also refer to devices that convert another form of energy (e.g., mechanical, chemical, solar) to electrical energy. A regulated power supply is one that controls the output voltage or current to a specific value; the controlled value is held nearly constant despite variations in either load current or the voltage supplied by the power supply's energy source.

Mein Fehler
