Been looking for a new tablet for a while. Always had an iPad since the first one, then the Air after the iPad 1. Now I've replaced it with the Galaxy Tab A because I didn't want an expensive high-end device and primarily wanted to get away from Apple :-). The price/performance ratio of the Galaxy Tab is perfect from my point of view. I don't notice any speed deficiencies, so the processor is completely adequate. Although I haven't tried any complex games (yet). I like the design and workmanship very much, they look very classy. The plastic back makes a "metallic" impression, the display glass and edges look very elegant, well finished, no crevices, nothing creaks. The display resolution is absolutely sufficient, even when zooming in I can't see any blurriness in fonts, for example. The display is sufficiently bright and shows the colours nicely. The speakers are okay, but compared to the iPad Air, I find the sound a little worse, muffled. Now about the format... I wasn't quite sure whether I liked the 16:10 when I ordered it. And "unfortunately" I don't like it 100% either. Good for watching films or TV, but I liked the 4:3 format better for surfing. Although everything is displayed nicely here too, i.e. nothing is cut off or reduced in size. At 525 grams, the Galaxy Tab weighs about 80 grams more than the iPad Air. I didn't really think I'd notice that, also because I always had the iPad in a case. But it is noticeable when you hold it in your hands. Almost more so in portrait format, because the 16:10 shape makes it longer and pulls it back. So if you value a lightweight device, I would recommend the Galaxy Tab S2 (389 grams). Otherwise, I am very satisfied with the device. The memory expansion is also great, just insert the card and it is recognised (I bought a 64 GB one).

The tablet is not bad for simple applications, e-mail, surfing, small games. For beginners, this tablet is perfectly adequate. It has a clean finish. The speed is in the lower range, but for the price it's okay. The touch display could be a little more sensitive. This is especially noticeable in cold environments. The charging plug is a little difficult to insert into the slot, which is on top next to the 3.5" jack for the headset. The charging cable is quite short. The battery also lasts well for a few days in standby. With intensive use, the battery lasts 4-6 hours, depending on what you are doing or have running in the background. I find it particularly positive that the Microsoft Office programmes are pre-installed on the tablet. Music playback via the dedicated headphone jack or. Bluetooth 4.2 works very well, no noise or interference. Unfortunately, both speakers are attached to the bottom of the tablet.
