Super gaming laptop at a fair price

I've been buying a new gaming notebook every few years for over 10 years. I started with a Littlebit, then MSI and now this Medion Erazer X7843. I have compared many devices (MSI GT72S, ASUS ROG G752, ACER Predator, Alienware 17 etc.) and have now decided on this notebook.

Compared to the other notebooks, which have practically the same hardware, you get a little more of everything with the X7843: 16 GB RAM instead of 8 GB, 256 GB SSD instead of 128 GB, etc. In my opinion, this is the best price-performance ratio.

Compared to its predecessor, the X7835, the design has become more elegant and simple. The notebook is surprisingly flat and looks like it was made from one piece. It is beautifully finished and has a high-quality feel.

The gaming performance is absolutely top. All the games I benchmarked ingame performed at a constant 60 FPS at high graphics settings (including GTA V, Middle Earth SoM, Project Cars, Batman Arkham Knight, The Guardian 3, Rainbow 6 Siege).

The IPS panel also impresses with its excellent picture quality. In direct comparison to the X7835, the colours appear richer and the image build-up smoother, although the first series of the X7843 allegedly did not yet have G-Sync panels (hence one star deduction for performance).

The loud fan noise was criticised in some reviews. Of course, the fans rev up audibly under corresponding performance. But this was also the case with my MSI and doesn't bother me personally. The ASUS ROG G751 or G752 are certainly the quieter devices (but they are also 20-25% more expensive).

I can't say anything about the battery life, as I only use the notebook with a power connection.

I deduct one star for the design, as the notebook comes without a DVD/BR drive. An external drive would have been nice.

    I would definitely buy again

I am very satisfied. Laptop is a bit heavy, but I think anyone who buys a 17" gaming laptop won't want to run around with it very often. If mobility is required, a 15" is probably recommended.

    All the games I've played
so far run great on the highest settings. The fan reaches a certain volume, but this is probably the case with all gaming laptops.

    The price/performance ratio is great.

OK for intensive use, but no highlgiht

A fast, pleasantly finished laptop. Good price-performance ratio. I have not yet been able to test it extensively, but my first impressions are very positive. The size (both of the laptop and the power supply) and the not insignificant weight speak against too mobile use, but for home (especially from my point of view a desktop PC replacement with mobile uses) very well suited.

EDIT after 3 years of use:
At the beginning I was very satisfied with the laptop, but after a short time of intensive use (film editing, animation) I noticed that the laptop quickly reaches its limit and often overheats. This has strangely subsided in the meantime, but the speed has quickly reduced. And overall, the laptop doesn't feel so well tuned. Doable for studying, but definitely too weak as a work device.
