    I am actually amazed by the system of this box.

    I am actually convinced of the system of this box, the range of functions and the price/performance ratio is top, but the implementation is completely unusable. I have, believe it or not, already the third Icy Box standing next to me, and that after just 2 weeks.

    With the first box, either the power supply unit or the circuit board was defective, the box could not be started at all, as soon as the power button was pressed, the power supply unit blew up and had to be unplugged for 5 minutes, when it then recovered, switch it on again, the same game. After about 25 attempts, I returned the box. It can happen, production error, no problem. The box was exchanged and I received a new one.

    The second box at least started, but always switched off after exactly 19.3 seconds. I tried everything. Without hard disks, with one hard disk, with two hard disks, with all hard disks, hard disks formatted x times before with a HDD dock, tried different formatting (ExFat, Fat32, NTFS), nothing. Box starts, the discs start spinning, error starts to light up after about 10 seconds, *zjip* power off, box off. It never recognises anything on the Mac or PC. No matter which Raid mode or single or whatever. Again hours wasted trying to get the thing to work, absolutely no chance, and I'm definitely not a beginner in this field. Returned the box, waited another week because it was not available, received a new box today.

    I am scared. I haven't tested this box yet but unfortunately lost all confidence in this product. If this one doesn't work either (and I assume it won't) I'd definitely rather invest in a Synology NAS.

    So if you're not a hobbyist and don't really, really, really understand this system, hands off.

    Bought hach a bad experience with Drobo rev. 3.
