First of all, it should be said that, as with all 144hz IPS displays, this is the infamous Chinese AU-Optronics panel. Weaknesses of the panel include horrendous bleeding, dead pixels, dust inclusions, IPS glow en masse. The picture quality itself (colours, sharpness, response time) is outstanding. If you want to buy this monitor, you have to be aware that you might be entering a lottery with the panel quality. There are plenty of reports on these AUO panels on the Internet (see overclock.net). There were people who had to change the screen up to 10 times. I was luckier, I got one without dead pixels, dust, frame skipping, IPS glow and backlight bleed. For me, this makes it the perfect display. But whether such quality defects are justified at this price is up to each individual. This applies to the MG279Q as well as to all other 144hz IPS monitors (Asus, Acer, Eizo, Freesync, G-Sync). The panels come from the same factory and have the same problems. But together with 2 R9 Furys I am in the 7th gamer heaven :D
PS: Don't be put off by the Freesync range (35-90hz). It can be unlocked to 30-120 or 57-144 via a driver tweak ;-)

There is currently nothing better than IPS + 1440p + 144 Hz point. You have beautiful colours, a higher resolution and a higher refresh rate, and then you can run it with today's graphics cards without having to run four 1080 Ti in SLI for 4,000. If you like e-sports games at 144 FPS, can enjoy the high resolution and beautiful colours at 60 Hz in heavier, slower games and like to do some hobby design, this is the perfect screen. But if you don't need the accurate colours, buy a TN panel, they're much cheaper and if you do graphics for a living, you don't need the 144 Hz and then go for a 4K screen which is more consistent with the IPS glow, backlight bleed and certainly has no dead pixels. But don't forget that it can never be 100% ruled out, these unpleasant side effects are part and parcel of IPS.
About my panel: I don't have any dead pixels, but the backlight bleed is noticeable. If I earned my money with graphics, I would have sent the screen back. As a hobby graphic artist, however, it's bearable. You can see two photos of it below. Once with my Samsung Galaxy S8 with the auto camera settings and the second I shot in manual mode and tried to represent as accurately as possible what you see in person. Judge for yourself whether this is ok for you.

The higher resolution is surprisingly good.
PS4 also looks very good on the picture. With the predefined settings, whether playing FPS or RPG, the picture is quickly adjustable.
144 Hz is immediately noticeable.
G-Sync would be nice to have, but not at all necessary. Picture looks great.
Heat build-up (screen) is relatively weak.
