    Complete solution for photographers

    Lightroom 6 has brought exactly the 3 functions that I was still missing with Lightroom 5: HDR, panoramas and above all: face recognition. Even if the latter still needs improvement (many faces are not recognised as such), the new version is a big step in the right direction. The previous version already left nothing to be desired in terms of the other tools and their quality.

    Not suitable for MacbookPro due to enormous heat generation

    Lightroom 6 (like the 5 version) runs smoothly and quickly on a current i7 MacBookPro 15". The graphics card is integrated and thus the fans ramp up to the maximum of 6,000 revolutions after just a few seconds. Deactivating the graphics card under settings did not bring any improvement. With Lightroom 5, the fans are actually only audible during import, but not in development or library mode. I have removed Lightroom 6 from the SSD again. Caution: Lightroom 6 irreversibly overwrites the catalogue previews (the preview images) into the 6 format. It is no longer possible to go back to the 5s. Good thing I made a backup of the 2.79 GB file beforehand.

    I can only recommend this Adobe product.

    I like Lightroom very much, especially because of the convenient management functions. The image processing options are usually sufficient for me (architecture, landscape and street photography). The processing speed is sufficient to good, even with large photo collections.

    • Multi-user operation only possible with additional effort, as database is only supported locally
