The Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Pro Max has 2x 3.5″ NVR HDD bays. This allows two hard drives to be used for video recording (e.g. with UniFi Protect).

Hello Have a look here: https://smma.ch/2025... Unfortunately I haven't got round to testing it yet, but I have the same situation as you and would actually like to get rid of the Sunrise modem. Unfortunately, you can't get any information from Sunrise. But as Nicolas wrote, it makes the most sense to switch to Init7, they do a great job and you can tell that Internet is their core business!

I was able to do some research and indeed Ubiquiti has no plans or similar follow-up costs with the "Dream Machine Pro Max". The range of functions offered by brands such as Cisco, Zyxel etc. are more interesting for companies as they offer far more than the "Dream Machine Pro Max" can do. The signature updates follow as firmware updates. The firewall functions of the "Dream Machine Pro Max" are as follows: - Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDS/IPS): detection and prevention of threats through signature-based IDS/IPS. - Application-aware firewall rules: Detection and management of traffic based on the application. - Content filtering: Filtering of content, domains and advertising. - VPN support: Support for various VPN protocols such as WireGuard, L2TP and OpenVPN for secure remote access. - Stateful Firewall: Maintain the state of active connections and make decisions based on the context of the traffic. - VLAN/subnet-based traffic segmentation: Segmentation of the network to improve security and management. - Signature-based threat detection: Regular updates of signature lists to detect new threats. - Application, domain and country-based QoS: Quality control of data traffic based on application, domain and country - Advanced network security: Comprehensive security functions without additional licence fees.
