ASUS 4g-Ac68u
Can I connect an external hard drive to the router's USB port, if so, which one could you recommend?
Yes, you can. I use the Seagate Expansion, which works without any problems.
Yes, you use the 2 outer antenna connections of the router for this.
Yes it is. I must say that overall AiMesh of ASUS isn’t the best. But this router does it and connects with any other ASUS router or node supporting AiMesh. As far as I know it doesn’t work with other brands.
Hello, the router works fine in Finland. Therefore, I assume that it will also work in Italy. The frequency bands will probably be similar to ours. Greetings
Hello, Asus has the AI Mesh system for this problem..there you can connect several Asus routers together to increase the Wifi coverage. This works for example with the RT-AC68U or RT-AC87U(I know both of them, but probably other Wifi products from Asus can be used this way too. You can read more about this here: https://www.asus.com/Microsite/AiMesh/de/
I use Wingo. It works perfectly for me.
At my place of residence, I achieve approx. 50 Mbit/s with my smartphone. I also achieve exactly these rates with the ASUS router.
Hoi, 1: Yes, it works with Salt, you just have to make an adjustment in the settings. APN -> Internet. I have been using this setup since last year :) Unfortunately, the device only has 1 sim card slot... 2: do you mean e.g. 2 providers on the same router? This is possible via Dual WAN, e.g. you can then run Salt and another provider at the same time. But here only 1x via SIM and 1x via WAN port.
I have the same problem, impossible to detect a sunrise card. It has worked in the past for a few hours, but never permanently. I have to check with swisscom to find out the name of the apn to configure. For sunrise, it's 'internet'. otherwise an article for troubleshooting. https://gundersen.net/solved-asus-4g-ac55u-randomly-going-offline/
Unfortunately no, power supply only with mains adapter.
I inserted the SIM card (SALT) into a mobile phone and downloaded a few things. Then back into the router. Somehow it works and I was able to finish configuring the device....
I have been thinking about this phenomenon for a long time. I cannot clearly identify the problem. On your side (i.e. after the router) you have tested correctly and representatively in my opinion, so I can't find anything unusual here. On Salt's side, there could be inconsistencies, but these are very difficult to check ... - Do the two sim cards have the same subscription (or the right to highspeed)? Or does the router have any special configuration ? because it expects to be connected to several devices it keeps a reserve free, no idea why it should do that ... (this would be confirmed if you do a speed test with 2 devices at the same time). Honestly, I am at a loss ...
OK, I found the answer in this forum: https://mobilecommunity.ch/wbb/index.php?thread/101-salt-surf-zugang-von-aussen Access from outside seems to be impossible with Salt with an LTE surf subscription, as only Class-A (10/24) addresses are allocated, which cannot be reached from outside. This limitation seems to me to be the biggest negative point about the Salt LTE subscription!
Among others, at Digitec. Just search for "SMA extension cable". As far as I know, there are none from Asus directly.
The 2 4G antennas (LTE) can be unscrewed. You have to pull a 50 ohm coaxial cable to the outside or 2 cables if you make a MIMO configuration. The cable and the SMA type plugs, you can find them at (Conrad) the external 4G antenna at (1000.ordi). All the explanations you can find on the Internet. Just type in google ( Asus 4G-AC68U TEST ). Of course it is necessary to be handyman. I did this installation and it works well. Good luck with it.
The router has no limitations as far as providers are concerned. You just have to make sure that the SIM version fits.
Yes, with the latest firmware from 02.08.2018 AiMesh is supported. -> https://www.asus.com/de/Networking/4G-AC68U/HelpDesk_BIOS/ Note: 4G-AC68U can only be AiMesh router (primary router), you can choose other Wi-Fi routers such as RT-AC68U as AiMesh nodes.
