Death is a mistake

The photographer and performance artist Brigitte Maria Mayer and Heiner Müller met in 1990 and got married in 1992. Until the death of Heiner Müller, who celebrates his 10th birthday on 30 December 2005, they lived together with their daughter in Berlin. The last years of Heiner Müller's life, which were externally marked by his functions as president of the East Berlin Academy of the Arts and as director of the Berlin Ensemble, find a little-known counterbalance in the fighter, writer and photographer against the deadly illness, and the private pictures, texts and drawings that were created during this time in dialogue with his wife also form a poetic counterpart, a symbiography, to the autobiography War without Battle.
