Description

The best & fastest way to upgrade a desktop PC to super-fast 3x3 802.11ac WLAN of the latest generation. The ASUS USB-AC68 WLAN adapter supports speeds of up to 1300 Mbps (5 GHz) or up to 600 Mbps (2.4 GHz), making cumbersome cable connections to achieve Gigabit transmission speeds a thing of the past. The ASUS USB-AC68 already supports the latest Broadcom TurboQAM technology. The external and foldable antenna solution can be flexibly installed in conjunction with the stand and directed to the best possible reception.

The ASUS USB-AC68 WLAN adapter uses the new Broadcom WLAN 802.11ac chipset with the fifth generation, which reaches speeds of up to 1300 Mbps over the 5 GHz band or 600 Mbps over the 2.4 GHz band and is therefore up to three times faster than the 802.11n WLAN standard. The optimal performance is achieved by the card as a remote station to an ac router with at least three ac streams.

In the 5 GHz band, the four channels 36 / 40 / 44 / 48 can be used freely in the EU for indoor Wi-Fi. With the ASUS USBAC68 WLAN adapter, the channels above 48 can also be received. In order to avoid interference, DFS can be used for automatic channel switching.
can be carried out. Thus the full channel spectrum of 5 GHz is available.

The ASUS USB-AC68 adapter offers the possibility to transmit data to the remote station either on the 2.4 GHz or on the 5 GHz band. The 2.4 GHz band is very well suited for daily Internet surfing and usually offers a longer range. The 5 GHz band is perfect for resource-intensive tasks such as streaming full HD multimedia content, transferring large amounts of data or online gaming.

Network adapter type

Data transmission, digital transmission, or digital communications is the physical transfer of data (a digital bit stream) over a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint communication channel. Examples of such channels are copper wires, optical fibres, wireless communication channels, and storage media. The data are represented as an electromagnetic signal, such as an electrical voltage, radiowave, microwave, or infrared signal.

Wi-Fi
i

Wi-Fi

A wireless local area network (WLAN) links two or more devices using some wireless distribution method (typically spread-spectrum or OFDM radio), and usually providing a connection through an access point to the wider Internet. This gives users the mobility to move around within a local coverage area and still be connected to the network.

802.11ac
i

802.11ac

IEEE 802.11ac is a wireless computer networking standard of 802.11, currently under development (Draft 4.0[1]), providing high-throughput wireless local area networks on the 5 GHz band.

802.11a
i

802.11a

IEEE 802.11a-1999 or 802.11a, is an amendment to the IEEE 802.11 specification that added a higher throughput of up to 54 Mbit/s by using the 5 GHz band.

More information...

,
802.11b
i

802.11b

802.11b has a maximum raw data rate of 11 Mbit/s and uses the same media access method defined in the original standard. 802.11b products appeared on the market in early 2000, since 802.11b is a direct extension of the modulation technique defined in the original standard. The dramatic increase in throughput of 802.11b (compared to the original standard) along with simultaneous substantial price reductions led to the rapid acceptance of 802.11b as the definitive wireless LAN technology.

,
802.11g
i

802.11g

This works in the 2.4 GHz band (like 802.11b) but operates at a maximum raw data rate of 54 Mbit/s, or about 19 Mbit/s net throughput. 802.11g hardware is fully backwards compatible with 802.11b hardware.

,
802.11n
i

802.11n

802.11n is a proposed amendment which improves upon the previous 802.11 standards by adding multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and many other newer features. Though there are already many products on the market based on Draft 2.0 of this proposal, the TGn workgroup is not expected to finalize the amendment until November 2008.
