The wait is at an end: Samsung’s 49-inch gaming monitor has arrived

It’s felt like ages since the announcement, but it has finally come. We have received a first batch of this new powerhouse. Fulfil your gaming dreams now.

Just under two years ago, Samsung created a stir after announcing the first 49-inch screen for gamers. Opinions diverged: some simply loved the monitor, others criticized its size and doubted the screen’s gaming suitability. Most people could agree on the following: A resolution of 3840 × 1080 for 49 inches is too low. Samsung made improvements in exactly this point.

The South Koreans aren’t the first to implement high resolution this year - but definitely the fastest. No other manufacturer can currently achieve a Dual QHD resolution with 120 Hz. What Dual QHD means for you: this wide piece of work can, for example, replace two 27-inchers.

HDR 1000

The monitor supports a maximal brightness of 1000 Nits (non-constant), creating some truly powerful contrast. Furthermore, 95% of the DCI-P3 colour space is displayed thanks to QLED technology.

AMD Freesync 2

Synchronization technology has been designed to reduce screen tearing and delays. Furthermore, the second generation also supports HDR content, lower latency and low frame rate compensation. The latter should prevent jerking at very low frame rates.

120 Hz

The competition is currently only offering 60 Hz. Samsung can score with 120 Hz. Use the on-screen menu to quickly switch back to 60 Hz. I don’t know why you’d want to, but you’ve got the option...

The screen can display images from two different sources simultaneously. Perfect for work or when you're playing and watching a stream at the same time.

The monitor can be pitched vertically and horizontally as well as adjusted in height. Eye Saver mode protects your eyes from blue light emissions and Flicker Free technology reduces screen flickering.

Apart from IT, I am passionate about lifting heavy things and sporadically dabble in photography. For years, I was lord of the low-pitched strings as bass player in a band. The after-effects being that I still enjoy getting lost in 20-minute epic compositions from one of the many metal genres. During the winter months, you’ll probably find me face down in deep snow (i.e. snowboarding) in the most beautiful of all Swiss cantons – the Valais.

Cool, danke für den Tipp! :)

Bisher hatte ich keine Probleme. Von welchen Games sprichst du?

This is not a 2K monitor. This is not a 4K monitor. THIS IS A 5K monitor! (5K Horizontally and 2K Vertically).

RTX 2070 or above to get full potential if you intend to use for gaming.

Best wait for LG 38GL950G-B if you intend to get this for gaming.

This monitor is not worth it i had the original 49" 1080p version of this monitor, it was an instant regret. (due to limited content supported... now its much better but the experience is all hyped up like everything else today. 35-38" Ultra Wide should be the maximum you should go).

The aspect ratio is designed more for a work station rather than gaming even though they advertise it as one... you may get more screen real estate horizontally but your gaming experience vertically will be CUT!

Switched out for the Asus Strix 32" a much better aspect ratio and perfect screen size. Ultra Wide content is still lacking... you are better off getting a triple screen setup and you will even still have money left!

If you intend to use this as a workstation for editing and surfing and even stock trading then this monitor is perfect for you, as a gamer to another gamer, do not waste your money on this aspect ratio and screen size... Dont go above 35-38"...

Am I the only one who thinks this is definitely the most ridiculous, idiot-teenage-gaming-looking monitor on the market? 75% of your games won't even fit this resolution. It just lacks the RGB LED to finalize the picture maybe...

User michaschm

A niche product, as many things nowadays. Original PCMasterRace resolution was 4:3 after all ...

Although I do like the modern Samsung monitor designs actually, they almost perfected the minimalist look.

User Calib4n

That's because it is idiotic. You know the saying : a fool and their money are easily parted.

User roqueriz0r

Wer hat alles mit HDR Probleme? Bild sieht so schlecht aus (HDR in Windows aktiviert)

User salebaer

Wenns dann so was mal in ECHTEM 4K gibt, denke ich 2 Sekunden darüber nach. Bis dahin wird nämlich wohl 8k Standard sein...!

User Anonymous
