    Excellent purchase

I use it for astrophotography, so the lack of AF is almost a benefit. Very sharp even at f/2.

    Pro

    • f/2
    • Very smooth dial
    • High value for money

    Contra

    • Edges with some aberration, but normal for not too expensive wide angle lenses

Top - Small, handy, picture quality very good

There is nothing in this price range that can hold a candle to this lens. Sharpness very good, distortion acceptable, light intensity great, vignette correctable ;-)
Colours are a little drier than with other Fujilenses,
but contrast and bokeh are very good.

Can only be recommended to a limited extent!

Unfortunately, I personally cannot recommend the lens. Even though the image quality was ok in my case, the vignetting was absolutely unacceptable. It is understandable that you have distortion at 12mm, but this is not the case with the XF10-24 or the XF14. Colour fidelity is also rather poor. If you shoot exclusively in RAW, you can of course compensate for these "deficiencies" in Lightroom.

The workmanship is absolutely lousy in my eyes. The lens had about 1-3mm play at the bayonet, so that the image section always changed minimally when the focus ring was pressed. Even changing to another model did not bring any change. Here, too, there was 1-3mm play.

If you are looking for a cheap UWW and can accept the above-mentioned "characteristics", you will certainly be happy with the Samyang. You should know, however, that there is a high series dispersion with this model with regard to sharpness and image quality. I was lucky in this respect, but unfortunately the workmanship did not convince me and out-of-camera pictures are not to be recommended.
